All parties benefit from project collaboration between higher education institutions and the business sector: the staff of the institutions, the students, and the representatives of work life. Projects allow the staff to update their own knowledge of work life and form contacts with employers, which may give rise to new cooperation models.
Students have the opportunity to develop their project management and team working skills, which are useful at work. At the same time, many students gain their first work experience in their own field and a valuable addition to their CV. Collaboration allows the employers to utilize new, fresh know-how, and the organization receives an opportunity to make itself known among possible future employees.
This material package guides the staff of higher education institutions in the planning and organization of a project-based course. The VALOA and OVET projects have carried out project work course pilots and, based on the experiences, they have compiled tips and material to help the staff of higher education institutions plan a project work course from the beginning to the end. The material also provides help with instructing international and multidisciplinary groups.
