Life and studies

Honest marketing of international degree programs is important.

Sometimes students do not receive enough realistic information about living and studying in Finland. Some universities provide information about the difficulties to be employed in Finland, the need to learn the language, and the climate.

It may be difficult for international students to find a part-time job without Finnish language skills. Universities are free, but living expenses are very high. It is recommended that universities revise their marketing material for potential new students with regards to living and studying in Finland as well as provide information about the average living costs per month in the university city. It is also good to prepare the students for the Finnish climate, especially if they arrive during the winter.
